Intro:

Tony Frissore is a Cleveland native who recently completed a 27-year-long military career & is continuing to expand upon his passion for music. Not only is Tony a multi-instrumentalist, but also a stellar genre-blending producer. He recently dropped his new song “Just Fade Away,” which we’ll be reviewing in today’s article. In the artist’s own words, “After nearly three decades in service to the Army, I didn’t want to shout. I wanted to drift out quietly, to let it all go. This was the soundtrack to that moment. Before reading our brief conversation, make sure you check out this new Tony Frissore single below.

Me: How would you describe your creative process while making “Just Fade Away”?

Tony: I recently completed a 27-year career in the military. This track is my long exhale, reflecting on my time in service.

Oh wow! And did you draw inspiration from any specific genres or artists?

I’ve been listening to a lot of down-tempo funk lately, like Magic in Threes and E. Lundquist, and I’ve been drawing a lot of inspiration from that type of sound.

How would you describe your current overall style of music in your own words? And how has it evolved over time?

I’m playing more live these days, so I’ve been focused a lot on the bass. I’d like to think the music I’m producing reflects that.

Are there any specific themes or messages you hope listeners take away from “Just Fade Away”?

“Just Fade Away” is about release, about letting go of something that’s defined you for so long it’s become part of your identity. For me, it reflects the transition out of uniform after nearly three decades of military service. There’s pride, but also grief. There’s freedom, but also uncertainty. I hope listeners hear that mix of emotion and find something in it that helps them process their own endings, whether it’s a career, a relationship, or a chapter of life. It’s a track about finding peace in the fadeout, not fear.

What a powerful message to encapsulate into music form. Additionally, what was the most challenging part of creating the song?

I put a lot of emphasis on the production side on this, and the feedback I’ve been getting has been positive. I’m self taught, so I try to push myself to learn with each release.

Also, how did you come up with your current stage name? And has it ever changed over the years?

I’ve been Tony Frissore since the second grade :)

That’s awesome! Are there any upcoming releases or plans that you're comfortable sharing with the readers?

I plan on spending the summer playing weddings and working on my walking jazz bass. If you're in the Cleveland area, come check out Pop Avenue.

And finally, in your own words, why should a new listener check out this song today?

Because “Just Fade Away” hits that rare space between reflection and rhythm. It’s the kind of track you can feel without needing to overthink, something you play when you’re driving alone, closing a chapter, or just need to breathe. It’s honest. It’s textured. And if you’ve ever had to walk away from something that shaped you, it’ll speak your language.
