Me: To start, how would you describe the process that went into creating “Healers Of The Lost Art”?

Amari: The creative process of making this record was awesome and felt organic. I got inspired by the production from Ev-Live, who did all the beats for the album. Just listening to the beats that he sent me opened up a chamber of thoughts and ideas that came flooding out. I remember working on some tracks before working on H.O.T.L.A and for some reason I had writers block and was dragging my feet to finish them but when Ev sent me a batch of beats, the instrumentals spoke to me that truthfully made me want work on them and from there I wanted to do a full album.

Fantastic! And, did you draw inspiration from any other specific genres or artists?

I didnt quite drew inspiration from other artist while working on this album since everything came out organically from hearing the beats supplied by Ev-Live and letting the beat help me come up with concepts and ideas but listening to Common and Pete Rock album "The Auditorium" towards the completion of my album that I knew I wanted my album to have that certain sound and cohesiveness to it. That ebb and flow.

Wow, that was actually one of our favorite albums from last year! From there, how would you describe your current overall sound?

For the most part I try to stay consistent with the style of music that I make, that I would describe as authentic soulful boom-bap hip hop music. You can hear the growth and evolution throughout each release while keeping the production and sounds cohesive with some experimentation.

Now that the full project is out, are there any key themes or messages you hope listeners take away from it?

I hope the listener recognizes that we, as a collective, are self-healers once we realize we can tap into that space to not only heal ourselves but also heal others as well, and we can inspire each other to grow and evolve as long as we are open to it. Hopefully, that's what they gain from listening to the album.

And, what was the most challenging part of creating the song during the recording process?

I didn't really experience any challenges working on this album. I took my time working on it and didn’t feel compelled to rush it. Everything worked out the way it was supposed to and came together organically.

In the very beginning, how did you come up with your current stage name? And has it changed at all over time?

I originally came up with the name, which kinda pays homage to Melle Mel and Marley Marl, but my cousin came up with Amari Marvelous as another alias, which fits the persona and brand that I represent.

Nice! Are there any upcoming releases or plans that you're comfortable sharing with the readers?

I don't want to let too much out of the bag, but I do have some projects I plan to work on. Some are eps/albums with other artists and producers, and one is a solo project. When the time is ripe, I will let it be known.

And finally, in your own words, why should a new listener check out this release today?

This record is for anyone who wants to hear a message that resonates with them and wants to hear something that gives substance and answers to something they might have been thinking about. If you want to hear authentic hip hop with some soulful, jazzy sounds and lyrics to uplift your mind and spirit, this album is for you.
