Becky Raisman Discusses Her Latest EP “Earth Goddesses” & Its Unique Sound
Intro:
After dropping her latest EP, “Earth Goddesses,” we have Becky Raisman joining us for today’s interview article. The Illinois-born artist set herself apart early on from her peers by crafting a unique sound that resonates from the soul. After releasing this new project last year in November, Becky continues to build up the initial impact it’s leaving on the music scene. “Earth Goddesses” standsout for its bright & positive sound that radiates from the production & songwriting. Before reading our brief conversation, make sure you check out this new EP below.
Me: How'd you get inspired while making this new record? What’s your process like?
Becky: I listen to tracks, and I write lyrics and melodies. I listen to other songs, read, walk, and ideas would pop into my head.
For the readers & new listeners, how would you describe your sound?
Positive, upbeat, different genres, catchy melodies, ear candy
What does the title mean to you, and how did you choose it?
Earth Goddesses because we are all Goddesses. Listen to my song Moonlight Goddesses
What was the most difficult aspect of making this new record for you?
Hmmm... well I was able to do it
Awesome! Additionally, what does your life look like outside of music? Any hobbies or things fans may not expect?
I love cats, I'm LGBT, I like to watch sports, and go shopping
Was there a specific moment in time when you realized music was your calling? Or more of a natural progression?
I always loved singing. I went to Columbia College Chicago, and I also have a little bit of a Theatre background. In the fall of 2004, I took Keyboard 1 to learn the fundamentals. I found that class to be really helpful. In college, I collaborated with some people on some originals. In 2015, I started piano lessons. And in 2023, a School of Rock in Mount Pleasant opened. I'm in their adult band for voice and keyboard
Nice! Additionally, are there any upcoming releases or plans you're comfortable sharing with readers?
I start my 6th EP Pride Fest soon. I'm rehearsing with my band; we have a show at Music Farm in May. I hope to one day open for Chappell Roan, Lady Gaga, or any LGBT artist. I hope to collab with them or work with Dan Nigro, Max Martin, Diane Warren, or Finneas.
And finally, in your own words, why should a new listener check out this new release today?
Because you will be inspired. I got different genres for everyone.
