Yung Mushi Discusses His New Project “TRAPHOUSE CODE” & Explains Its Initial Delay

Intro:

For today’s interview article, we have international rap star Yung Mushi hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, and currently based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. After the release of his new album “TRAPHOUSE CODE” this month, he has all eyes on him & his sound. His influences range from the likes of Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka, Chief Keef, and more. This marks his first album release since his incarceration in 2023 for participating in activism. Before reading our brief conversation, make sure you check out this new album below.

Me: What was the creative process like while making this new record? How'd you get inspired?

Mushi: This project was actually supposed to be released in 2021 in Cape Town, but was being delayed due to some personal issues related to the street, but I always kept my promise to release it and thank God it's now released everywhere.

How would you describe your music to someone who’s never heard it before? Has it evolved over time?

My music is actually a mix of Memphis Trap and South African Trap, but it also has a little bit of Chicago drill. I think it's evolved a bit cause the project has a trap dancehall in it too, but overall it's a South African Trap with some African rhythms plus a Memphis Trap energy style though.

What does the title mean to you, and how did you choose it?

I'm a Gucci mane fan though and TrapHouse was the title of his mixtape and he is the Trap God too so I got inspired by him as I feel like I obtained the matrix code for the trap music even though I'm a big fan of Memphis Trap and a big fan of big Scarr music (rip).

What was the most challenging part of creating this new release?

To get a recording studio and a good producer to do my vision, and also to get money to finance it cause I'm an independent artist and I do everything by my own, and it's not easy though.

From there, what does your life look like outside of music? Any hobbies or things fans may not expect?

I'm an easy person to be honest, and I have a simple life even though I lived in Elsie's River, Cape Town, South Africa, where gang life and criminality are like everyday living, but I always stay confident.

Was there a specific moment when you realized music was your calling? Or was it a natural progression?

I have always loved music since I was a kid, and I can just say it's an inner thing in me, and I really love music though

Before we wrap, I wanted to ask if you have any other upcoming releases or plans that you're comfortable sharing with the readers?

I think I'mma work on another project asap cause I feel like I need to give my fans some sauce, though, plus I wanna explore different genres of trap or tryna create or blend some other music in my trap music, but we will see though

And finally, in your own words, why should a new listener check out this new release today?

Cause the release is amazing and well produced though. it talks about a lot from conspiracy theories, violence, social problems, my personal struggling life, gang violence in Elsie's River and around the world etc...
