Summary:
Born in Germany and raised across several continents, Melome’ comes from a distinguished musical family deeply connected to jazz history. Her grandfather, Jimmy Woode, was the youngest musician hired by Duke Ellington and performed alongside legendary artists including Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Carmen McRae, and Sarah Vaughan. With a respected jazz vocalist for a grandmother, a musician father, and renowned jazz singer Shawnn Monteiro as her aunt, Melome’ inherited a rich musical foundation that continues to shape her distinctive sound.
Following her graduation from New York University, Melome’ relocated to Los Angeles, where she connected with producer Saverio “Sage” Principini. Together, they created her debut album, Indigo Red, and its follow-up, Phoenix Rising, featuring acclaimed musicians such as Vinnie Colaiuta, Reggie Hamilton, and Alessandro Alessandroni. Indigo Red made history as the first album distributed by Whole Foods Market before receiving a European release through IRMA Records in 2008. Her growing international profile also led to an acting appearance as herself in Italy’s popular sitcom Un medico in famiglia.
Throughout her career, Melome’ has performed at festivals and events across the United States, Europe, South America, and Asia. Following years of touring, she shifted her focus toward motherhood, family, and visual art, experiences that helped deepen her creative perspective and reconnect her artistic expression with personal growth.
Her return with RECALIBRATION, recorded between Los Angeles and Spain, marked a new chapter centered on reflection, resilience, healing, and rediscovery. RECALIBRATED: THE REMIXES extends that journey, transforming the original project's introspective spirit into a more rhythm-driven, celebratory experience.
Among the highlights is the “SO DONE!” remix by Cee Elassaad and Joel Holmes, alongside Somos Animales’ Dub Reggae interpretation of “Con C.ALMA.” OPOLOPO also delivers a vibrant Funk/Disco reworking of “Recalibration,” demonstrating the project's stylistic diversity.
Ultimately, RECALIBRATED celebrates Melome’s multicultural identity, powerful vocals, and deep jazz lineage while embracing new sonic possibilities. The release reinforces her commitment to creating soulful, uplifting music that connects people through shared emotions, movement, and the universal experience of becoming who we are meant to be.
